Who we are
Pedalshield is an open-source bike-to-earn app that rewards verified rides with shielded Zcash (ZEC). It is operated by IntelliGrip Industries ("we," "us"). You can reach us any time at intelligripindustries@gmail.com.
Your route stays on your phone
This is the whole point of the app. Your GPS location and motion-sensor data are recorded and verified entirely on your device. We never receive, store, or transmit your route, your coordinates, or your raw sensor data. This is enforced in our code (and unit-tested), not just promised here — you can verify it in our open-source repository at github.com/intelligrip/Pedalshield.
What the app actually sends us
When you finish a ride and submit a reward claim, the app sends our backend only:
- the verified distance of the ride (a number, e.g. kilometers);
- an on-device integrity score for the ride (anti-cheat);
- a random claim/ride identifier and timestamp;
- the Zcash Unified Address you chose to connect, so we know where to send your reward.
That's it. No route, no GPS points, no name, no email, no device contacts, no advertising identifiers.
We are non-custodial
Pedalshield never holds your funds or your private keys. You connect a Zcash wallet that you already control (such as Zodl) by pasting its public Unified Address. Rewards are sent directly to that address on the Zcash network. A Unified Address is a public receive address; sharing it lets you receive funds and does not expose your keys, balance, or transaction history to us.
No account, no sign-in
The app does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide an email, phone number, or any personal identifier to use it.
The website waitlist (optional)
If you choose to join the beta waitlist on this website, you give us your email address. We use it only to tell you when Pedalshield is available, and we process it through Formspree, a form-handling service. We don't sell it or use it for advertising. Ask us to delete it at any time and we will.
Service providers we rely on
- Zcash network / lightwalletd nodes — to look up balances and broadcast the shielded payment to your address. Transactions on Zcash mainnet are processed using Zcash's shielded protocol.
- Apple TestFlight / App Store — to distribute the app. Apple may collect its own data under Apple's privacy policy.
- Formspree — only if you submit the website waitlist form.
We do not use third-party analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or social media pixels in the app.
Data retention
We keep claim records (distance, integrity score, claim id, recipient address) as needed to issue rewards, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations, then delete or anonymize them. Waitlist emails are kept until launch or until you ask us to remove them.
Your choices
- You can disconnect your wallet in the app at any time, which removes the stored address from your device.
- You can deny or revoke Location and Motion permissions in iOS Settings (the app needs Location to measure a ride).
- You can ask us to delete your waitlist email or any claim data tied to your address by emailing us.
Children
Pedalshield is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be announced on the app or website.
